Synopsis

Shakespeare in the Park - Macbeth
Part of the Audi Classics Series
Presented by Transtec

Produced by Singapore Repertory Theatre

“Double, double toil and trouble...”

Long before vampires and witches become fashionable, Shakespeare wrote the most famous supernatural suspense-thriller of all time.

Following the success of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Much Ado About Nothing, SRT brings you Macbeth this April – a dramatic experience that will have you on the edge of your picnic blanket

Without the constraints of the traditional proscenium arch, with heavens above, the grass below, this will be a sensorial experience. Almost a filmic thriller – fast-paced and exhilarating.

On a mysterious night in the forest, three witches tell Macbeth that he is destined to become the King. But Macbeth and his wife have more political ambition than patience, and they decide to take fate into their own hands by conspiring to kill the virtuous King Duncan and anyone who stands between them and the throne.

The bloodshed and paranoia spiral out of control until everyone is ensnared: the king, the royal court, and eventually even the Macbeths themselves.

Spread a picnic blanket out under the stars and enter the world of Macbeth, one of Shakespeare's most dazzling and mysterious masterpieces. Whether you are fascinated by political intrigue, love exciting battle scenes, relish luscious language, or just want to enjoy an al fresco bottle of blood-red wine, Macbeth will be a remarkable evening for all.
