“State of the School” Address & Welcome Back Reception with Pro Director Professor Janet Hartley
Professor Janet Hartley is the Pro Director (Teaching and Learning) and she has been seconded to the Directorate from 2007 until 2012. She is Professor of International History specializing in Russia History.
The LSEAAS is pleased to host Prof. Hartley to a reception where she will deliver the "State of the School" address.
Research interests: in eighteenth and nineteenth century Russian history, including social, cultural, legal, institutional and diplomatic history. She has written a study of Charles Whitworth, English diplomat in Russia and other European countries in the first quarter of the eighteenth century, and her most recent book is 'Russia, 1762-1825: Military Power, the State and the People', published in 2008. She is currently writing a history of Siberia. Areas of Expertise: 18th century, Russian social history, 19th century, Russian history, Russian archival materials and Soviet archival materials. Prof. Hartley has
published extensively and is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Warburg Institute.
Concurrently, the LSEAAS will also host returning graduates to a Welcome Back reception.
